Good Practice of Multiple Nozzle Fixing in Static Equipment

Per ASME Sec VIII Div 1 (UG-42) keep distance between nozzle centres ≥ 1⅓ × avg diameter; per API 650 Cl. 5.7.3 minimum spacing is 8× shell thickness or ½ opening radius. Inadequate spacing distorts the shell from uneven heating.
